The play takes us on a journey of the symbolism of art and its importance without sounding preachy. The lines of beauty were present from the simple setting to the nostalgic music — an s-shaped form that defines what is beautiful, versus a flat straight line which represents stillness and death.

Into the Woods

A forest may be an unusual place to sell a cow or visit a grandmother, but it is certainly the right place to run from a prince and, no less importantly, to lift a spell. Tom Scutt's set design makes you feel genuinely surrounded by the forest — birds, a house, a tower, trees composing a landscape that invites the actors to play and fully immerses the audience.
